PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP

The Practice has a Patient Participation Group which has 2 components:

  • A core group of volunteers which meets 3 times a year with Practice staff.  In order to maintain informality and open discussion, the group has decided to limit its size to 10-12 people.  The Terms of Reference for this group are here.

  • A virtual group of patients who are content to give their e mail details to the Practice and be consulted electronically on specific issues from time to time.  There are no limitations on membership of this group which we would like to be as large as possible.  If you are interested in contributing to the development of the surgery and its services please complete the form in Reception or complete this form online and e mail it to:  newburnsurgery.a86038@nhs.net.

The core Group remains open to new members but we are particularly interested in attracting the views of those in the 16-45 age group.

MEETINGS

The minutes of the inaugural Newburn Patient Participation Group on 5 December 2011 are here.  The next meeting of the group is currently planned for Monday 27 February 2012.

PRACTICE SURVEY

Following discussion at the Patient Participation Group meeting on 5 December, the Practice conducted a postal survey of a random selection of patients in our Practice. The results have been received and will be considered at the next meeting of the group to consider the results.

For some years the Department of Health has contracted Ipsos Mori to conduct patient surveys independently of doctors, although this year conduct of local surveys has been devolved to Practices.  An explanation of these surveys can be found on the GP Patient Survey web site and the detailed results of the latest survey, April 2010 to March 2011, can be found here.

The survey shows that we perform consistently and well against both other GP Practices in the area and nationally against the following criteria:
