Patient charter

The Patient Group had recently agreed a Patient Charter with the surgery.  This outlines some of your rights and responsibilities.  A copy of the Charter is here.

Friends and family test

On 1 December 2014 the NHS Friends and Family simple survey form was introduced. The survey allows you to provide quick feedback about your experience with us. We are very happy to receive this feedback in hard copy in the Friends and Family box in reception or you can send it to us electronically. For more details please follow this link. The DoH publishes the results of this survey on the NHS Choices website but also requires the practice to publish the results monthly. You will find the last year's results below:

National patient survey

For some years the Department of Health has contracted Ipsos Mori to conduct patient surveys independently of doctors. The results of these surveys are published on the GP-Patient Survey website.

This survey site allows you to compare any 3 GP practices you wish and also gives an indication of the averages for the area and compares practices against national averages for the questions.  You will see that the national surveys show that Newburn compares favourably with other practices in the Newcastle area and even better with practices nationally.  The Care Quality Commission draws in this information when assessing a GP practice and the results also appear on the NHS Choices website.

For convenience, the latest results from the GP Patient Survey website can be found here:

We do, however, welcome feedback on our performance at any time and your comments may be submitted electronically to newburnsurgery.a86038@nhs.net for more information on using our secure system please see the contact page.

Local practice survey

Over 4 years, across the period 2011 to 2015, our Patient Participation Group meeting has asked us to conduct random postal surveys using a specific survey questionnaire in order to generate a consistent view of the surgery.  The results of these annual surveys are published below.  The questions asked differ slightly from those in the National Patient Survey, though you will see common themes,
