Summary of indicators - additional services 2011/12

For practices providing additional services the following organisational markers will apply.
Indicator Practice
Cervical screening (CS)
CS 1 - 11 points
The percentage of patients aged from 25 to 64 (in Scotland from 21 to 60) whose notes record that a cervical smear has been performed in the last five years Standard 25 - 80%
 
CS 5 - 2 points
The practice has a system for informing all women of the results of cervical smears
The Clinical Support Agency (CSA) administers the cervical smear recall system. The practice completes forms sent by the hospital cytology laboratory to inform them what action has been taken to investigate abnormal smears.
CS 6 - 2 points
The practice has a policy for auditing its cervical screening service, and performs an audit of inadequate cervical smears in relation to individual smear-takers at least every 2 years

CS 7 - 7 points
The practice has a protocol that is in line with national guidance and practice for the management of cervical screening, which includes staff training, management of patient call/ recall, exception reporting and the regular monitoring of inadequate smear rates

Child Health Surveillance (CHS)
CHS 1 - 6 points
Child development checks are offered at intervals that are consistent with national guidelines and policy
Yes, child development checks are carried out by the doctors at the baby clinic and by the health visitor in accordance with the local schedule.
Maternity Services (MAT)
MAT 1 - 6 points
Ante-natal care and screening are offered according to current local guidelines
The practice provides ante-natal care according to guidelines from the maternity unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Contraceptive Services (Sexual Health)
SH1 - 4 points
The practice can produce a register of women who have been prescribed any method of contraception at least once in the last year, or other appropriate interval e.g. last five years for an IUS
 
SH2 - 3 points
The percentage of women prescribed an oral or patch contraceptive method who have also received information from the practice about long acting reversible methods of contraception in the preceding 15 months (Payment stages 40–90%)
 
SH3 - 3 points
The percentage of women prescribed emergency hormonal contraception at least once in the year by the practice who have received information from the practice about long acting reversible methods of contraception at the time of, or within one month of, the prescription (Payment stages 40–90%)
