| Locum GP's |
During a doctor's annual holiday, an locum
doctor may do a surgery and/or home visit. All our locums are fully
trained doctors who specialise in general practice.
|
| Practice Manager |
Mrs Gwen Taylor manages the practice. She is
available to help with problems or complaints that cannot be handled by
the receptionists.
|
| Receptionists |
The receptionists are Mandy (head receptionist),
Margaret (assistant manager), Pauline, Janet, Sandra, Julie and Judith.
They are trained to deal with most queries and will pass messages on to
the doctors.
|
| Practice Nurses |
Sisters Elaine Robinson and Alison Dodds are available for advice,
minor ailments and injuries, foreign travel vaccinations, blood tests,
ECG's, health checks, ear syringing, contraceptive checks and
injections. They help manage health problems such as asthma, diabetes,
high blood pressure and others. Ask at reception for an appointment.
|
| District Nurses |
Joanne Meredith, Viv Connelly, Sarah Harrison and Pauline Hogg.
They nurse the housebound and seriously ill at home and advise about
medical equipment on loan. They can be seen at the surgery for
dressings and removal of stitches on Wednesday morning at 11.30am. They
run a continence clinic at the surgery for those with bladder problems.
|
| Health Visitor |
Our health visitor, Alison, a nurse with extra training
in child development and health education, works closely with the
practice. The health visitor does home visits and is present at our
child health clinic on Tuesday afternoons. She can also advise on
illness prevention for all age groups. She can be contacted through the
practice or at Lemington Tel: 267 5615

before and after the birth and runs the ante-natal clinic every Tuesday
morning at the surgery. She can be contacted through the surgery or at
Chapel House Clinic on Tel: 230 2261

the surgery. We also have a mental health worker, Bernie Latham who is available to see patients with
mental health problems. Referral to this service is through the doctors
|
| Community Psychiatric Nurse |
A service for those with mental health problems
is provided at home or at Westpark Centre, Newcastle General Hospital.
Referral is through the doctor.
|
| Dietician |
There are no longer dieticians attached to
individual practices but there is a dietician service available at
local health clinics. Ask the doctor or nurse for details.
|
| Phlebotomist |
Sonia Payne and Helen Thompson are technicians skilled in
taking blood tests. They come to the surgery on Monday afternoon and
Friday mornings and also visit people in their homes.
|
| Medical Students |
We are a teaching practice and medical students
are with us from time to time in the surgery or accompanying doctors on
calls. These students are engaged in a very important part of their
medical training and patients' cooperation is extremely valuable and
much appreciated. They are bound by the same rules of confidentiality
as the doctors. You are free to choose not to have a student present.
You will be informed if students are present and if you prefer to see
the doctor alone simply mention this to the receptionist. |
