Welcome to the Newburn Surgery web site.
We hope you will find the pages interesting. In addition to information about the practice, the site contains some further detail about the work that we do. Below is a list of recent additions to the site.

-
"Did Not Attend" Policy.
Around 93% of our patients attend pre-booked appointments or give us
sufficient notice of their need to change or cancel an appointment.
But 7% do not and thus waste about a week of clinical time a month.
These are valuable appointments which could be allocated to other
patients. We have debated this problem with our Patient Group and agreed
a new policy to try to drive down the number of missed appointments.

link.
- Following Department of Health guidelines which require a geographic
element in the names of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG), ours has
been renamed from Newcastle Bridges CCG to Newcastle West CCG.

The latest patient
survey for Newburn Surgery, which has been conducted by Ipsos MORI on
behalf of the Department of Health, has been extracted from the Patient
Survey web site and placed in the
Practice News section.
These surveys are conducted entirely independently of the Practice and
demonstrate our performance against other GP Practices in Newcastle PCT
and against national averages.
- The Practice Patient Participation Group has now been established
with 8 volunteer members. The inaugural meeting of this Group will
take place on 5 December 2011. We continue to seek volunteers to
participate and if you are interested please see the
Practice News page.
- At patient request, and to reduce waiting times, from 29 November
2011 it will be necessary to make an appointment for your baby's
injections and 8 week checks. Contact reception as normal and they
will co-ordinate your appointments with the Doctor, Practice Nurse and
Health Visitor. The Health Visitor only will run a "drop in"
clinic from 2.00 pm until 2.20pm.
